Last updated 4 September 2026. This explains what we collect when you use Uni-edit’s online school, and what we do with it.
1. Who is responsible
Uni-edit operates this site. For anything in this policy, or to exercise any right below, email privacy@uni-edit.net.
2. What we collect
When you register: your first and last name, your email address, and a password, which is stored only as an encrypted hash — we never see it.
As you learn: which courses you enrol in, which lessons you complete, your quiz answers and scores, and the certificates you earn.
Automatically: standard server logs, including IP address, browser type and pages requested, kept for security and troubleshooting.
3. Why we use it
To create your account, run the courses, record your progress, issue your certificates, answer your questions, and keep the site secure. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your quiz answers to judge you as a customer.
4. Marketing email is opt-in
We only send you course announcements and writing tips if you tick the box when you register. You can unsubscribe from any email we send, or write to privacy@uni-edit.net. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop essential messages about your account, such as a password reset.
5. Who else sees it
Our hosting provider, our email delivery provider, and analytics on the site itself. They process data on our instructions. We disclose personal data otherwise only where the law requires it.
6. Cookies
We use cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your progress through a course. Without them the school cannot work. We also use analytics cookies to understand which courses people finish.
7. How long we keep it
While your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records. Ask us to delete it and we will, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation.
8. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to privacy@uni-edit.net and we will respond. If you are in a country with a data protection regulator, you can also complain to them.
9. Where your data goes
Uni-edit works across several countries, and our team and service providers are not all in the same place as you. Where your data crosses a border we take steps to protect it to the standard described here.
10. Languages
We serve researchers reading Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English. Where a translation of this policy is provided, the English version applies if the two disagree.
11. Changes
We will update this page if our practices change, and the date at the top will tell you when.
