1. Who we are
Uni-edit provides English editing, translation and academic publishing support to researchers. This online school, at school.uniedit.org, is operated by Uni-edit. You can contact us at business@uni-edit.net.
2. What this school is
The school offers short, free online courses in academic English writing. Courses consist of written lessons, video, and a short quiz. They are educational materials, not personal advice about your particular manuscript.
3. Your account
You need an account to take a course. Please give a real name and a working email address, keep your password to yourself, and use one account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
4. The courses are free
We do not charge for these courses and do not ask for payment details. We may add, change, update or withdraw courses at any time, including courses you have started.
5. Certificates — what they are, and what they are not
When you complete a course we issue a certificate of completion. It records that you finished that course on this site. It is not an academic qualification, it does not carry academic credit, and it is not issued or recognised by any university, accreditation body or examination board.
6. What we do not promise
Taking a course does not guarantee that your paper will be accepted, published, or reviewed favourably by any journal. No editing, translation or training service can promise a publication outcome, and we do not.
7. How we use technology
Uni-edit uses AI-assisted tools alongside qualified human editors, with human review and accountable sign-off. We say so plainly because many journals and funders now require authors to disclose how AI was used in preparing a manuscript, and you cannot meet that obligation if your suppliers are vague about it. Our courses discuss the responsible use of AI in academic writing for the same reason.
8. Course materials
Lessons, videos, quiz questions and certificates are the property of Uni-edit or its licensors. You may use them for your own learning. Please do not copy, republish, resell or distribute them, or use them to train a machine-learning model, without our written permission.
9. Acceptable use
Please do not share your login, attempt to disrupt the site, upload harmful content, or scrape the courses in bulk. We may suspend or close accounts that do.
10. Language
Uni-edit works with researchers writing in English who read Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and other languages. Courses on this site are taught in English. Where we publish a translation of these terms, it is provided for convenience; if a translation and the English version disagree, the English version applies.
11. Closing your account
You can ask us to close your account and delete your data at any time by emailing privacy@uni-edit.net. We may close an account that breaches these terms.
12. Liability
The courses are provided as they are, without warranty. To the extent the law allows, Uni-edit is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this free school. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the school after a change means you accept the updated terms.
